Dancer-Choreographer

About
Adi Hanan is an independent dancer and choreographer based in Vienna. Her choreographic style focuses on stretching the limits of classical technique to reveal a pure, honest emotional language. For the 2026/27 season, she has been commissioned by Alessandra Ferri to create a full-length ballet for the Wiener Staatsballett Young Company.
Her recent choreographic works include the duet Behind the Pain, which premiered in Vienna as her first independent production, and the solo EveryBody Needs a Home, which premiered at the Zurich Opera House in 2025 and was later invited to a solo competition in Poland. Both works will be presented for the second consecutive year at Vienna Sommer Kultur Festival. Her duet Will You Catch Me? received second prize at a choreographic competition in France, was selected for the Peru Biennale, and was invited to ACDC Duet Xchange 2026.
Most recently, she collaborated with Theater Nestroyhof Hamakom on an interdisciplinary project exploring the intersection of movement and dramatic performance.
From the 2020/21 to 2024/25 season, Adi was a member of the Vienna State Ballet, where she performed an extensive classical and contemporary repertoire while developing her choreographic voice. In 2022, she premiered Shadows at the company’s Choreography Platform at the Volksoper Vienna, followed by Eden, a commissioned work for the Vienna State Ballet presented in 2024.
Prior moving to Vienna, Adi danced with BallettCompagnie Oldenburg and with leading institutions in Israel, including the Israeli Ballet and the Jerusalem Ballet. She trained at the Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts and the Maslool Professional Dance Program, and holds a Bachelor’s degree from Tel Aviv University through the Marc Rich Honors Program in the Humanities and the Arts.
